#11 All about LibraryThing

LibraryThing is definitely my favourite learning activity. It is a great way for bookworms to share their passion for reading. It is very user friendly, attractive and allows you to do many things like the create or join a book group. I am also intrigued by the ways it can be incorporated into a library website or OPAC. You can check out my LibraryThing catalog at http://www.librarything.com/catalog/autumn-moon

#9 Finding Feeds

I prefer to use Google search to find a site that interests me first and then try to add it to my Bloglines account. Finding feeds by search tool is too haphazard for me. Technorati is the hardest to use with too many search choices and not always reliable. I searched the word 'moon', chose the 'highest authority' option and got a 'Moon exploration on hold due to alien presence' blog post. I like Topix.net best. I found a great news site 'Global politician' and added it to my account. Google Blog search is the easiest. I found an interesting, library-related blog 'Comics worth reading' and added to my account at http://www.bloglines.com/blog/lautumnmoon@yahoo.com

#8 Make life "really simple" with RSS & a newsreader

I really like RSS and newsreaders. I find it easy to use this technology. It is fairly straightforward. I would use it at work to research more efficiently, keeping an eye on relevant blogs and websites. I would also like to have updates of all my favourite news websites. Libraries can use this technology to create specific blogs that cater to their patrons' interests. For example, reviews of recently released books.

However, it was very hard to make my bloglines account public. The instructions were not helpful. The public can access my blogroll at http://www.bloglines.com/public/lautumnmoon@yahoo.com
